FUNDRAISING PUMPKIN TRAIL

After the successful fundraising of our Pumpkin Trail in 2019, we have decided to hold it again this year. We will of course be strict on maintaining social distancing guidelines, as we are already doing during normal business hours.

Wander through our autumnal pumpkin trail, set undercover in our greenhouse at Middlecombe Nursery. We’ll be displaying pumpkins carved by local groups and businesses as well as a few of our own.

CUPPA Coffee Shop will be open, serving hot food and drinks.

Opening Times:  Dates: Wednesday 28th to Saturday 31st October, inclusive.  Times: 10am to 7.30pm

OCTOBER GARDENING TIP

Use a digging fork to spike your lawn to improve drainage. It will also help to aerate the soil to encourage strong root growth through the winter.

DEVELOPMENTS ON THE NURSERY

No new developments this month, just ongoing work on our new toilet and greenhouse roof...

NEW CUSTOMER TOILET - OPENING END OCTOBER/BEGINNING NOVEMBER

We're pleased to say that the finish line is now in sight! After months of delays on electrical work, we're finally on the home straight. Our new customer toilet (with disabled access) should be in use by the end of October... We know it still needs some paint, but at least we've now installed doors and got rid of the window!

GREENHOUSE ROOF UPGRADE CONTINUES

So far so good! It's a time consuming job, and the rainy weather delays our progress, but so far the two back ends of the greenhouse have now had new Heatguard (and watertight) roofing installed - hooray. Soon you won't recognise our 1960's greenhouse!

Please bear with us as we continue to carry out this maintenance work - we try to carry it out on our most quietest days, but if the sun is shining we have to make the most of the good weather and progress with installation.

CUPPA COFFEE SHOP

OPENING HOURS:

Thursday & Friday, 11am to 3pm

Saturday & Sunday, 10am to 4pm

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, CLOSED

TEST AND TRACE NOW REQUIRED BY LAW

We are required by law to ask all our CUPPA Coffee Shop customers to scan the Test and Trace QR code at the counter or complete a contact form, when ordering your coffee. We ask kindly that you assist our staff in doing this.

INDOOR SEATING NOW AVAILABLE

We've been working hard over the last few weeks to make space for indoor seating for our coffee shop customers - we now have enough to seat 30 people with plenty of socially-distanced tables at the back of the greenhouse. We will be trying to make this area as beautiful as the gardens in the coming month.

NEW!!!! THE PANTRY @ CUPPA COFFEE SHOP

New for Winter 2020 - The Pantry stocks a selection of premium, local and independent foods. Located in CUPPA Coffee Shop, you can shop while queuing for a coffee! Drew's still adding to the range, but he already stocks Bristol Twenty Tea and Coffee, GingerBeard's Preserves (also from Bristol), Tony's Chocolonely (okay, it's not a local company but they are the only chocolate company to actively fight for slave-free cocoa farming) and Great British Biscotti (from Bournemouth).

SHRUBS FOR AUTUMN COLOUR

We always stock a wide range of shrubs and specimens, but at this time of year some are more colourful than others. Try some of the following to brighten up an autumn garden... Cercis, Viburnum, Mahonia, Parrotia, Japanese Maple, Leucothoe, Skimmia, Nandina, Pyracantha.

SPRING FLOWERING BULBS - LOTS IN STOCK!

Our greenhouse is laden with masses of Spring flowering bulbs, including varieties of Crocus, Tulip, Daffodil, Iris, Allium, Camassia and Hyacinth.
